This short hike of 0.4-mile trail takes about 45 to complete and leads to stunning views of a 442-foot waterfall and lush rainforest.

Mauna Ulu Trail

This easy hike takes 0.6 trail, takes about 15 minutes to complete, you’ll see interesting colored lava rocks, lava trees, fissures, as well as the chance to see native plants and wildlife.

Kilauea Iki Trail

This 3.2 mile trail takes about 2-3 hours to complete and takes you through the volcanic crater of Kilauea Iki, where you can witness steam vents, lava formations, and lush rainforest.

Waipi'o Valley Trail

This 4.7-mile trail takes about 4-5 hours to complete and takes you through the river, mountains, and then finally the beach.

Pololu Trail

This 0.9 mile trail round trip takes about 1-2 hours to complete and offers a stunning incredible view.

Mauna Kea Trail

This 1.2-mile trail takes about 35-40 minutes to complete (steep) and offers great views of Mauna Loa and Monet Mauna Kea and a beautiful sunset.

Mauna Loa Trail

This 36.1-mile trail takes about 2-3 days to complete and takes you to the summit of Mauna Loa, the largest volcano on earth by volume. It is a challenging hike and very rocky, previous hikers have said it could tear up your shoes. Note elevation gain is 7,139 ft.

Waialea Bay to Beach 69 Trail

This  1.5-mile off-trail takes about 45 minutes to complete and offers beautiful views of the Pacific ocean and leads to Beach 69.

Papakolea Green Sand Beach

This popular trail is considered moderately challenging route. Some points are very rocky, not much shade, and super windy, so bring water.  Beautiful oceans views and a greenish sand beach at the end of the trail.  

This 5.1-mile trail takes about 2 hours to complete and takes you along the rugged coastline of Puna, through the jungle, and the beach. Make sure to start early with shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Captain Cook Monument Trail

This popular 3.7-mile trail takes about 2.5 hours to complete and takes you to the historical monument of Captain Cook. The trail offers  stunning ocean views and opportunities for snorkeling. Other hikers suggest wearing hiking boots.

Ala Kahakai National Historical Park Trails

This trail ranges from 0.25-2.9 miles, taking about 15 minutes to 1 hour to complete.  Offering views of ancient Hawaiian fishponds, petroglyphs, and historic sites, the national park offers several short trails to enjoy. Great for kids.

Kaumana Caves State Park Trail

The trail is a rocky 1-mile trek taking around 30 mins to complete. Explore this authentic, mysterious, & beautiful lava tube. Be sure to bring a flashlight and good hiking shoes as it can get slippery!

This trail is a 0.6-mile scenic route that takes about 20 minutes to complete. Walk through lush vegetation to a secluded rocky beach and enjoy the beauty of Onemea Bay. Kid a friendly hike, but slippery when wet, so keep an eye on your kids.

Kiholo Bay Trail

This 5.1 mile trail takes about 2 hours to complete and takes you to the beautiful beach lagoon, where you can see sea turtles, fishponds, and stunning ocean views. Most of the hike is on sand.

Halema'uma'u Steam Bluff and Sulfer Banks

This easy walk is  paved and open year around and gives wonderful viewsof the crater.  You will see steam vents with fantastic picture opportunites.   This trail is accessible for people with wheelchairs and great for strollers.

Lapakahi State Historical Park Trail

This 0.8 mile walk takes you through an ancient Hawaiian coastal village where you can learn about the history and culture of the area. You can expect to see the remains of homes, fishing structures, and other artifacts.

Makuala O'Oma Trail

If you’re looking to hike through the jungles, check out this hike. It’s slippery when wet, but beautiful and magical when it rains. Bring rain gear and hiking boots.

Pu'u Wa'awa'a Cinder Cone Trail

This 6.5 mile hike takes you to the top of a cinder cone where you can see panoramic views of the island. You can expect to see sheep, goats, and cows on the way up, and note that the way up is steep. Start early.
